Flight Radar Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
Flight Radar does not require an account and does not contain advertising, behavioral analytics, or third-party tracking.
Location and aircraft requests
When the radar is open, the app sends the selected radar center, range, and a pseudonymous device identifier to F4 Software’s service to retrieve nearby aircraft. The center may be your approximate or precise current location, or a place you searched for. Flight Radar does not request background location and does not keep a history of where you have been. Short-lived operational logs and coarse shared radar-area caches may be processed to secure and operate the service.
Widgets
Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Apple Watch widgets use the last radar location and your access status, stored on your device, to request nearby aircraft in the same way as the app.
Overhead Alerts
If you turn on Overhead Alerts, the app sends F4 Software’s service a home spot you choose, rounded to about 1 km, your alert choices, the aircraft identifiers of your saved aircraft if you turn on alerts for them, an Apple push notification token, and the pseudonymous device identifier. These are used only to check for aircraft near your home spot and to send notifications through Apple Push Notification service. A record of recent alerts is kept for up to two hours to avoid repeats. Turning alerts off, or losing access, removes your home spot from the service, and alerts the app has not refreshed for 45 days are deleted.
Sky History
If you set a home spot in Sky History, the app sends F4 Software’s service that spot, rounded to about 1 km, with the pseudonymous device identifier. Whenever Flight Radar is open in that area, the service records aircraft that pass within 10 nautical miles of the spot and keeps those records for 30 days so you can look back at them. Stopping Sky History in the app deletes the spot and its records, and a spot that has not been viewed for 45 days is deleted automatically.
Lock Screen tracking
When you track an aircraft on your Lock Screen, the app sends the aircraft’s identifier, your location rounded to about 1 km, a Live Activity push token, and the pseudonymous device identifier so the service can send updates. This information is deleted when tracking ends, which happens within about an hour.
Sky View
Sky View uses the camera and motion sensors only while it is open, to label aircraft on your screen. Camera images are processed on your device and are never stored or sent.
Purchases
Apple processes payments and provides purchase entitlement status to the app through StoreKit so Flight Radar can verify access and restore purchases. F4 Software does not receive your payment-card details.
Favorites
Favorite aircraft are stored locally and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database. Apple operates iCloud; F4 Software cannot browse your private CloudKit records.
Service providers
Flight Radar uses Apple (including Apple Push Notification service), Cloudflare, and SkyLink API to provide its features. Their own policies govern information they process. Aircraft data is informational and is not associated with a Flight Radar user profile.
Your choices
You may deny location access and center the radar on a searched place, deny camera access, turn off Overhead Alerts, stop Sky History, or stop Lock Screen tracking at any time, and turn off notifications in iOS Settings. You may delete favorites in the app, manage iCloud through Apple, manage Monthly Access through your Apple account, and restore purchases with the Apple ID that made them.
